DBSA Fundraising Letters & Tips

An important component of many DBSA Chapters is the ability to raise funds for their chapter’s activities, resources and events.  Because DBSA support groups are offered free of charge, and money is often hard to come by for chapter expenses, fundraising campaigns to local community leaders and businesses, family and friends can be an effective way to raise funds for your chapter.

Below you will find an article borrowed with permission from a fundraising consulting firm (Mal Warwick and Associates, Inc.), and a sample letter of appeal for a DBSA Chapter.  Utilize these tools, and contact DBSA’s Chapter Relations Team for assistance with your fundraising letters.

The sample fundraising letter below can be used as a template for your chapter’s fundraising efforts.  You may also consider utilizing this information to campaign locally for the national efforts of DBSA.  Some chapters find that raising money to support the overall efforts of DBSA supports their local missions, and ensures that the money that they raise in their communities goes to serve the overall cause of improving the lives of people living with mood disorders everywhere.  DBSA is proud to consistently report that 87% of dollars raised goes directly to the cause (only 13% is used for administration of services).  DBSA depends on the support of our donors to provide important services, like this chapter resource.
