Action Planning Institute Guide (from CLF 2005)

The 2005 DBSA Chapter Leadership Forums (CLF) were one-day action planning institutes held in Illinois, New Jersey and Texas.  These programs were designed to take DBSA chapter leaders and other interested volunteers through a learning experience that resulted in a PLAN FOR ACTION in their chapters and communities.  The 2005 Forums were unique programs within the mental health community. CLF prepared and empowered individuals to lead positive change in their own communities through DBSA chapter activities including: advocacy, community outreach, education and support.

Below is a link to a modified curriculum guide for an action planning institute, like those that took place in 2005.  This is provided for chapters to deliver their own action planning institute on the local level.  Consider utilizing this curriculum for a 1 or 2 day program that will inspire, enable, prepare and empower participants to commit to acting in their community on behalf of people living with mood disorders.  The curriculum may need to be modified, and details may need to change based on your local resources, attendance and needs.  However, focus on the learning objectives that are provided throughout the curriculum guide, and trust that the entire institute, when facilitated well, will deliver a quality result

DBSA chapters provide amazing services to their communities.  A day of Action Planning such as the one outlined in this curriculum guide can push a chapter to even greater achievements.
