Promoting The DBSA Name

The DBSA Name Change Toolkit was created in Fall 2002 and remains an excellent source of information to DBSA Chapters who wish to promote DBSA and their local chapter.

We’ve been talking to chapters about promoting your new name through outreach to your local news media. Now we’d like to actively partner with you to promote your new name to your local media using the materials in this "DBSA Name Change Tool Kit."

The "DBSA Name Change Tool Kit" can be downloaded as one 67-page Adobe PDF and two PowerPoint files. Click here to download PDF. Follow links below for PowerPoint documents.

The kit contains:

DBSA Logo - A manual has been developed to provide information on how to use the new DBSA logo. The guidelines outlined in the Graphic Standards Manual were developed in order to ensure the logo is used in a consistent manner, which will enhance the overall image of our organization. You may view the manual online or download a 9 page printed copy. Please do not use the logo in any way other than described in this manual. Note: The Graphic Standards Manual is a large file and may take up to 2 minutes to download, depending on connection speed.

Name change announcement letter

News Release - The news release, "Booklet Dispels Myth That Talking About Suicide is Harmful," talks about the availability of DBSA’s new booklet, Suicide Prevention and Mood Disorders.

Letter to the editor (has been distributed to your local media)

Suicide Prevention and Mood Disorders booklet. Copies are available from DBSA.

Media Advisory (A sample of a media advisory you can use locally if you plan an activity)

Fact Sheet (This fact sheet contains facts/statistics on depression and bipolar disorder. It can be used as needed with your local media or for your own information)

Question and Answer Sheet (For your information, can be used to prepare for any interviews you may be doing)

Media information (Tips on how to work with the media and do an interview)

Ways to Get the Word Out (Some ideas for additional activities you may wish to do at a later time)

List of DBSA videos - Footage from DBSA videos can be used with local cable stations.

Presentations (Two speeches and power point slide presentations to use when you are giving a talk to local mental health organizations/professionals and local businesses. These presentations are designed to serve as the groundwork for your presentations and should be edited as you see fit. Since your audience may include physicians, social workers or psychologists, etc. – you may want to change the terminology such as "patient" to "client."

Flyer Templates (Some ideas for a flyer to promote a meeting or other activity or your new name.)

If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact the Chapter Relations team at (800) 826-3632.
