The following links provide information on various ways to locate psychiatrists, psychologists, and other mental health professionals in your community. DBSA does not endorse any doctors, counselors, or centers listed on this or other sites.

Please use these sites as a starting point only. Finding a doctor or counselor that is right for you is a personal process that can take time. Be sure to find someone you feel you can speak with openly and honestly and don’t hesitate to get a second opinion.

As you search for a health care professional, keep in mind that you have a right to expect certain things, no matter who you are, what challenges you are facing or how much money you have. You have a right to:

  • Privacy, confidentiality and respect
  • Sensitivity to your needs and background
  • An explanation of the treatment you are receiving and why
  • Freedom to express yourself
  • Freedom to find another professional if you if you aren't satisfied with your treatment or don't think it’s working as well as it should.
