DBSA Offers Support to Hurricane Survivors

DBSA is offering assistance to those in need by bolstering existing chapter support groups as well as creating additional support groups. In addition to providing peer support to those living with mood disorders, DBSA support groups are specifically focused on the mental wellbeing of those dealing with post-trauma depression and mood disorders.  Click here for more information.

During and after hurricanes Katrina and Rita, DBSA Chapters from states near and far – including Nevada, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Texas and Missouri – called DBSA’s national office to see if there was any way they could help. Many support group participants offered to drive to the Gulf area to assist in relief efforts. The government wants to help victims of natural disasters but is overlooking one of the most serious consequences of these tragedies:  Mental health.
